About

One thing, done slowly.

Yt-shirt started in Sofia in 2015 with a simple question: what happens if you make only one thing, and keep making it better?

The thing was the white t-shirt. Everyone owns one and nobody thinks about it. We thought about it a lot: the fibre, the knit, the weight, where a neckline sits on the collarbone, how a hem falls tucked in or left out. Our models have numbers instead of names (N 001, N 002, N 005) because each one is less a style than a study.

It is, admittedly, a white t-shirt. We have spent ten years on it anyway.

What it's made of

Indian Suvin cotton, one of the finest cottons grown, with a natural sheen. Supima cotton. Cotton knitted on the bias, so it wraps the body on the diagonal. Cotton with silk. Cashmere with cotton. And once, an Italian organza silk and a cashmere wool that turned the t-shirt into something else entirely: the (non)t-shirt.

All white. From crisp white to a white that has caught a little sun.

Where it's made

Cut and sewn in small batches in Sofia, Bulgaria, by a small atelier of seamstresses. We make about 150 pieces of a model at a time, not thousands.

Why we came back

For about five years Yt-shirt was quiet. Now it's back, and it starts with what was left: the t-shirts that waited in the stockroom, and a roll of fabric that was never cut. Before making anything new, we're finishing what we started.

For us sustainability is an order of things, not a label. Choose the best fibre. Make only what's needed. Make it last. Then think about where it goes next.

Same white t-shirt. A little more grown up. Still not taking itself too seriously.
