A good white t-shirt can last for years. Here is how to help it.
Cotton (Suvin, Supima, bias knit)
- Wash inside out at 30°C, with whites only.
- Use a mild detergent. No chlorine bleach, which weakens cotton and can yellow it over time.
- Don't tumble dry. Pull it gently back into shape and dry it flat or on a hanger, out of direct sun.
- Iron on the reverse at a medium setting.
Cotton & silk, cashmere & cotton
- Hand wash cold, or use the wool/silk programme. Dry flat.
(non)t-shirt in organza silk or wool
- Dry clean, or follow the label exactly.
Keeping white white
- Wash less, air more. A t-shirt worn once usually needs a night by the window, not the machine.
- Treat marks straight away with cold water.
- Store it folded, not hung. Knits stretch on hangers.
